Congrats to Stuart Fogarty

Congrats to one of Ireland’s best admen and one of the most colourful guys in Irish business - Stuart Fogarty of AFA O’Meara. This week the news of his merger with McConnell’s was confirmed:

The enlarged group will have a turnover of €89m, the company announced yesterday, and will be known as The McConnell Group.

The deal comes after a lengthy courtship between the two ad agencies.

The new group will be headed by Damian Bell, while Fiona Scott will become managing director of McConnell’s Advertising, taking over from Jarlath Jennings who will act as a non-executive director of the newly-formed group.

Major clients include O2, AIB, Tesco, Irish Rail, Bus Eireann, Ballygowan, Irish Distillers, the IDA, the ESB, Intel, Department of Agriculture Food & Fisheries, and Danone.

Stuart deserves every success and I wish him well. Long may we see a healty set of Irish-owned agencies and if this merger helps make that more likely, all the better.
