Who says Irish politics can’t catch up with the YouTube era? It’s one thing for a journo to dig out an old quote and re-print it in a piece. It’s really a qualitative difference, a step change, to see it from the horse’s mouth (or whatever orifice from which it emanates).
Anyway, Gavin Sheridan digs up a 2003 PrimeTime report that shows Bertie shocked, shocked that a Fianna Fail TD could have problems obtaining a tax clearance cert:
Will it make a difference? Who knows? It’s one thing in the abstract to reckon that somebody’s a hypocrite. It’s another to have it right in your face with sound and colour. Asking you to ignore that is asking you to be an accomplice.

I’ve been advocating for a while that some party HQ should pipe and archive all local tv coverage to PC as to ensure they can react to it.
e.g. there was a minor last minute hiccup on the last Monday before the general election when Bertie told UTV that health and education weren’t important in the election. It didn’t make the impact it might have because those who would have made hay with it hadn’t recorded it.
