Sarah Palin’s America

September 8th, 2008 · 1 Comment

How will a nation that starts teaches science classes – bursting with teenage parents – that fossils are faked and the earth is 6,000 years old going to compete with China and India?

How will a nation led by someone who claims the Iraq War is “a task that is from God” rally the democratic world to confront Iran or Russia?

How will a nation wilfully dependent on foreign oil because of fantasies of domestic supply, led by someone who denies climate change, ever understand that it’s the dependency on that energy technology that enriches, empowers and emboldens the worst regimes in the world and endangers America’s security?

These are the stakes. We can stop giving in to these people and trust each other, or we shall go into the dark.

If Axelrod has a 2008 version of the below in the can, now’s the time.

Phew! Good thing we elected Johnson. I mean 1965-1969 were seriously super years in American history, especially the race riots and assassinations. I suppose Vietnam was OK, though.

I see what you’re saying here - and the Palin years would indeed be dire (except for the cave painting - that’ll be nice) - but don’t you think you’re going a little heavy with the H-bomb? I’m thinking the Republicans are more likely to deliver something drearily craptacular, like Ireland in the 1950s, only the Bible-thumpers won’t even be half as smart as the Catholic hierarchy, so Americans will get superstitious AND dumberer. Yay!
